About Holly’s House
The Evansville Police Department chose the name Holly’s House⢠for the Child and Adult Advocacy Center in honor of the work Holly Dunn Pendleton has done in educating our community on how to assist victims of sexual violence, as well as her personal efforts to reach out and help victims of sexual assault.
An Evansville native, she is the only known survivor of the Railroad Serial Killer. Holly has used her traumatic experience to help others heal from, or hopefully avoid, similar situations. She lives as a survivor, not a victim. Holly speaks at schools, women’s events, before judicial panels, and has provided training sessions for the entire Evansville Police Department. Holly was the recipient of the 2006 Jefferson Award for Community Service, sponsored by the Evansville Courier and Press; and one of five honorees of the 2006 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award for Greatest Public Service Benefiting a Community. She also serves on the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Commission on Domestic and Sexual Violence.

thanks to all the vendors who participated, and the many brides that attended
Nikki,
I wanted to personally thank you for your fierce determination, ungodly amount of energy and superb organization skills for pulling off the Elite Bridal Show yesterday. I plan weddings sometimes with high maintenance brides and the fact you took on us “high maintenance wedding vendors” shows that you have no fear! And frankly, you are a little crazy.
I thought the event yesterday went very smoothly and frankly was pleasantly surprised with the turn out. Not bad for a first time show. In the past 6 years I have worked very small shows (the Petroleum Club used to put on a bridal show) to the huge Super Bride Sunday, it’s nice to have a turn out where you can really “talk” to the brides. Honestly, it’s up to us to work our leads to see if we can turn it into revenue.
The vintage dresses were awesome and the groom’s lounge was the best I’d ever seen. And well, I love cold pizza so that was good too!! TRU did their usual outstanding job and the Casino Aztar’s venue is upscale. And giving Holly a check for $1,300 was awesome!
Nikki, you should be very proud of yourself, you took on a project that many would not touch, but easily scrutinize. It will be advantageous to do a debriefing to see what worked and what areas we can improve upon for next year. I encourage all of us to give Nikki feedback.
Thanks again on a job well done! Now try to get some sleep and find your voice.
warm regards,
